Election Review Commission OK’d for Fairfax

Tuesday at the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors meeting, Chairman Sharon Bulova recommended the creation of a bi-partisan commission to review and make recommendations regarding Fairfax County’s election process.

The commission will concentrate on ways to improve the County’s efficiency on Election Day as well as reduce long lines and wait times. The Chairman recommended that the commission begin work in January 2013 and recommendations be presented to the Board of Supervisors in May of 2013. Appointments to the Commission will be made by each Board of Supervisors Member and also include representatives from a variety of other Fairfax County organizations. Former Chairman of the Board of Supervisors Kate Hanley and former Dranesville Supervisor and former Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce chair Stu Mendelsohn have agreed to co-chair the Commission.
