Fire Dept. Open House Set For Fire Prevention Week

The Falls Church Volunteer Fire Department and the Arlington Career Firefighters will be hosting an open house on Saturday from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. to promote Fire Prevention Week.

The theme to this year’s Fire Prevention Week, which runs Oct. 7 – 13, is “Have Two Ways Out!”

This year’s theme focuses on the importance of fire escape planning and practice. In 2010, U.S. fire departments responded to 369,500 home structure fires. These fires caused 13,350 civilian injuries, 2,640 civilian deaths, and $6.9 billion in direct damage.

The open house will take place at the fire station, located at 6950 Little Falls Road, Arlington. For more information, visit fallschurchvfd.org.
