F.C. Arts Kicks off Oct. With Paint-In, Photo Talk

Falls Church Arts will host a Halloween Paint-In and an exhibit of work by an award-winning City of Falls Church photographer this month.

This weekend begins the sixth annual Halloween Paint-In, in which artists old and young are invited to decorate windows at participating stores in downtown Falls Church in a Halloween theme. Painting will take place during the next two weekends. Those interested in participating may email info@fallschurcharts.org for more information.

Falls Church Arts is also bringing an exhibit of work by award-winning National Geographic photographer Karen Kasmauski to ArtSpace Falls Church as part of FCA’s ArtWORKS series. ArtWORKS is a program that allows seasoned professionals in any field of the visual arts to present their works and share their knowledge. Kasmauski’s photographs, taken on five continents over 15 years, portray the global reach of disease and the attempts of those working to eradicate it.

A free reception in Kasmauski’s honor, open to the public, will take place at ArtSpace Falls Church, 410 S. Maple Ave., next Thursday at 7 p.m. The exhibit will be shown through Oct. 14 at ArtSpace.
