Marshall Athletic Hall Of Fame Inductees Announced

George C. Marshall High School announced recently this year’s inductees into its Athletic Hall of Fame.

This years inductees are Katherine Switzer, author of Marathon Woman, Class of 1964; Dale Wallace, Track, Class of 1978; Mike Hopkins, Football, Class of 1986; Lonnie Goldberg, Baseball, Class of 1988; Billy Swarm, Football, Class of 1989; and Andrew Barber, Dive, Class of 2000.

Athletes are eligible for consideration five years after completion of their high school careers while coaches are eligible for consideration five years after they retire from coaching in Fairfax County. Contributors are individuals who over many years worked as an employee of George C. Marshall High School or significantly contributed time or resources, in each case to the betterment of the GCM athletic program.

The Hall of Fame induction will take place during the 50th Anniversary Gala on Friday, Nov. 9, at 8 p.m. at the Fairview Park Marriott in Falls Church. Tickets can be purchased at gcmptsa.org/content.php?102. For more information, contact Kathy Veoni at 703-714-5409 or kmveoni@fcps.edu.
