NoVa Vietnam Veterans Donate Gift Cards to Children

giftcardVietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 227 of Northern Virginia, donated 34 Visa gift cards, each worth $50, to children of veterans who are in the Veterans Administration Supportive Housing program on Aug. 20. The gift cards are intended to help pay for school supplies and other essentials for the coming school year. The donation is the second year of the program.

The VA Supportive Housing Program is a joint effort between HUD and VA to move veterans and their families out of homelessness and into permanent housing. HUD provides housing assistance through its Housing Choice Voucher Program (Section 8) that allows homeless veterans to rent privately owned housing.
