Applications for Appointment to Fill F.C. School Board Slot Deadline is Sept. 10

The Falls Church School Board established tonight a time table for the appointment of a replacement for Rosaura Aguerrebere, who resigned on Aug. 24 and has already re-located back to her childhood home in Long Beach, California. An announcement is expected to be circulated tomorrow inviting applicants to seek the appointment, with a deadline to apply of Monday, Sept. 10.

The School Board will begin a review of applications at its Sept. 11 meeting and will arrange public interviews with the candidates. Depending on how many apply, a decision will be made by either Sept. 18 or 25. Qualifications include being a resident of the City of Falls Church, having a knowledge of the Falls Church School System and general educational best practices. A letter of interest should include, they indicated, information of why a candidate is seeking the position, and understanding of the job, and whether he or she would be interested in running for a full four-year term in November 2013 once the uncompleted term of Augerrebere is ended.
