This Saturday, from 9 a.m. – noon, pre-made rain barrels will be distributed at the Falls Church Property Yard, 7100 Gordon Road, Falls Church, in an event sponsored by Northern Virginia Soil and Water Conservation District.
A rain barrel is placed under the downspout to collect water from the roof and holds approximately 50 gallons. Rainwater collection can help save water for use in yards, eliminate potential flooding in basements, and reduce stormwater management costs.
The cost for a rain barrel is $65, with registration and payment at arlingtonenvironment.org/barrel.htm.
