F.C. Volunteers Firefighters Get $5k Grant

Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of America (IIABA) and Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company have awarded a $5,000 grant to the Falls Church Volunteer Fire Department (FCVFD) for purchasing 1,200 feet of new fire hoses. The fire department will replace large diameter hoses for their front line engine.

“These funds, in essence, are going to greatly enhance our department’s ability to provide an effective water supply to our crews battling various types of fires,” said Falls Church Volunteer Fire Department Fire Chief Paul Schomburg. “Our current hose is old and outdated while the new hose is stronger and more reliable. This brings safety to both our crews and citizens.” FCVFD officials, firefighters and executives and employees from IIABA and Fireman’s Fund will come together for a special public event where the grant will be presented tonight at the Fire Department, 555 N. Washington, at 7 p.m.
