F.C. Students Get Mock Gov’t Training at Girls State

Two rising high school students from the Falls Church area were among the more than 600 students who attended the 38th annual Girls State held at Longwood University June 10 – 16.

Cindy Pham of Dunn Loring, a student at Marshall High School, and Katie Neubig of Falls Church, a student at Paul VI Catholic High School, participated in the program this year.

The program is styled as an immersion into American government, in which delegates run their own cities and create their own executive, legislative, and judicial branches of government. Guest speakers included Governor Robert F. McDonnell, Lieutenant Governor William T. Bolling, Justice of the Supreme Court and former Attorney General Honorable William C. Mims, New York Times bestselling and award-winning author Nancy Redd, and U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs’ Under Secretary for Benefits Allison Hickey.
