Where Were F.C. Water’s Back Up Generators?

Editor,

Could Falls Church City officials please provide a report on how their water system back up generators worked during the outage? The FCNP’s front page article on the “scathing indictment of Dominion Power” failed to mention anything about back up generators. Falls Church certainly had plenty of money available to purchase and maintain back up power for this vital system, so how about some information on how it worked when needed? If there are no back up generators or if they did not work because they were not maintained, then Falls Church owes Dominion Power a public apology. I likened Falls Church City government to a spoiled child in a previous letter to the editor. Nothing has changed.

Offensive Remarks In Letter to Editor On F.C. Anglicans

Editor,

I was chagrined by the News-Press’ publication of a Letter by Robert Mansker in the July 5 edition stating that with respect to The Falls Church that “there was nothing but bigots within the walls.” I am not a member of either the Falls Church Anglican or Episcopal, but I take great offense at Mr. Mansker’s broad brushed accusation as well as the decision to publish his regrettable remarks. A bigot is defined as “a person who is obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices; especially: one who regards or treats the members of a group with hatred and intolerance.”

Mr. Mansker, you just accused an entire group – many of whom are our neighbors and whom we know as good, caring, faithful and service-oriented people – with a patently untrue description reeking of hatred and intolerance. If you disagree with an interpretation held by many in that congregation, fine, but don’t accuse an entire group of people of being “bigots” because of your disagreement with a tenet of their religion.
