Fire Investigators Say F.C. House Fire Set Intentionally

Fire investigators say that a Falls Church house fire was set intentionally this weekend, according to a Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department news release.

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department and Arlington County Fire Department units responded to the house fire last Saturday at around 2:20 a.m. The single-family home is located on the 2100 block of Haycock Road in the Falls Church area of Fairfax County.

Firefighters reported light smoke coming from the top floor of the two-story home upon arrival. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire. The home was vacant. There were no injuries.

Damage is estimated at $25,000.

The fire is still under investigation.

In November 2010, another fire occurred at this same address in the early hours of a Sunday morning.  The house on the lot, which was under construction at the time, was deemed a complete loss and damage was estimated at $1,000,000. A neighboring home was also damaged by radiant heat in that fire.
