Local Children of the American Revolution Group Lays Wreaths at Pohick Church

wreathVirginia Society of the Children of the American Revolution members recently led a patriotic wreath laying ceremony honoring five men who fought for American independence (1775-83) buried at Pohick Church in Lorton.

The historic church counted George Washington and George Mason as members. The C.A.R. invited other local organizations to participate, and several accepted: National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR); National Society Sons of the American Revolution (S.A.R.); General Society Sons of the Revolution (S.R.); and the Virginia S.A.R. Color Guard. Representatives of local societies and chapters who laid wreaths were the following: Sarah Hardy, Regent, Kate Waller Barrett Chapter, NSDAR; Adrienne Kerchner, Thomas Lee Chapter, NSDAR; Dr. Mary Elizabeth Cutting, Recording Secretary, Nelly Custis Chapter, NSDAR; Gail Eger, Regent, Mount Vernon Chapter, NSDAR; Darrin Schmidt, Past President, Fairfax Resolves Chapter, S.A.R.; Peter Davenport, President, George Mason Chapter, S.A.R.; Stephen Kerchner, President, Col.
