F.C. Police Receive Report of Suspicious Person

The City of Falls Church Police Department received report today of suspicious activity that had occurred in the 900 block of Park Avenue.

According to a news release from the City of Falls Church, at approximately 8:40 a.m. on July 11, a young woman was walking westbound on the sidewalk along Park Avenue when an unknown individual heading the same way slowed his vehicle, asked her “are you going up there?” and pointed west on Park Avenue, and asked the young woman if she wanted to get in his car. The victim shook her head and said no. The suspect again asked if she was certain she didn’t want to get into his car. The victim shook her head and looked away, at which time the suspect sped off.

The victim arrived safely at her intended destination of George Mason High School, where she called her mother to report the incident. Her mother subsequently contacted Falls Church Police.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, large build, possibly in his 40’s, with short black hair and possibly a mustache. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a light blue or gray short sleeve shirt. The vehicle in question is described as a run-down, dusty blue, 4-door vehicle, possibly a Volvo, with Virginia plates.

Residents are encouraged to immediately contact the Police Department at 703-248-5053 if they encounter any suspicious persons or situations. Anyone with information about this specific incident is asked to call that same number and report.
