F.C. High Students Receive Japanese Language Honors

Falls Church High School had three students who won awards at the 2012 Mid Atlantic Association of Teachers of Japanese contest. Each of these students had to submit a haiku written in Japanese.

Jesse Vo Quach won first place in High School Japanese, level 1; Van Huynh won second place in High School Japanese, level 3; and Duncan McLaren won second place in High School Japanese, level 4.

Each of these students have been led by their teacher, Yoko Thakur. Thakur is a Japanese language teacher at FCHS as well as the Japanese Club sponsor and Japanese Honor Society sponsor. The honor society recently inducted four more students – Diana Doan, Olivia Lim, Tiffany To, and Liuzhi Zhang. Each of these students had to maintain a B+ or higher in Japanese as well as a B or higher overall GPA.
