F.C. High Gymnast Sets Sights on Va. Tech

Falls Church High School senior Carrie Murphy, standing at just five feet tall, has set the bar high, academically and athletically. Murphy has been a captain of the varsity competitive cheer squad as well as the varsity gymnastics team and recognized at the district and regional level.

Murphy has been a leader in several classes and activities, serving as a chair in the Leadership Council and organizing over 40 groups into a community parade, directing a Winter Pep Rally, and helping make a garden memorial plan come to fruition in honor of a FCHS teacher who recently passed. She is a member of the Math, Music, Spanish, and National Honor Societies.

Murphy has received several scholarships, like the Emerging Leader Scholarship for Corps of Cadets, Wells Fargo Dependent Scholarship, and the Northern Virginia Region Cheerleading Coaches Association Scholarship. She plans to enter the Corps of Cadets at Virginia Tech in the fall.
