Mason Boys Tennis Earns Spots In 3 VHSL State-Level Contests

With a win against Randolph Henry High School, 6-0, last Thursday, the George Mason High School boys varsity tennis team won the Region B championship for the 10th year in a row.

Earning points for Mason were senior Karl Campanella-Dysart (6-0, 6-0), junior Tommy Weber (6-2, 6-0), senior Kan Tagami (6-0, 6-1), sophomore Alex MacDonald (6-2, 6-0), junior Jakob Karstens (6-1, 6-0) and junior Santiago Villalon (6-0, 6-1).

VHSL state-level tennis competition will take place Thursday – Saturday at Radford University. In addition to the team itself playing in the semifinals Friday, the Mason doubles team of Weber and Campanella-Dysart, and defending state singles champion Tagami, will be competing this weekend.

Weber and Campanella-Dysart won the Region B doubles championship last Tuesday, besting the Randolph Henry High School team (6-0, 6-0) in the semifinals and the Wilson Memorial High School team in the finals (6-3, 6-0).

Last month, Tagami won the Region B singles championship by defeating Walker Dunnavant of Randolph Henry High School (6-0, 6-0) in the semifinals and Rush McCormick of Wilson Memorial High School (6-1, 6-2) in the finals.
