VDOT Options for Widening I-66 Loom

A new report with options for the widening of I-66 was produced this week, and some options could be detrimental to Falls Church, City Manager Wyatt Shields told the F.C. City Council at its work session Monday.

The options range from two that would make all of I-66 subject to tolls, a third would make only new lanes subject to tolls, and fourth would widen the road with no new tolls. The first two options, Mayor Nader Baroukh and Vice Mayor David Snyder noted, would be “very negative developments,” “a very bad idea” and “detrimental to the City.” However, it was pointed out that the City’s role in the decision making will be limited.
