F.C. Council’s Happy Problem: Excess $3.4 Million

Told by the City of Falls Church’s Chief Financial Officer Richard LaCondre Monday night that there is a $3.4 million surplus in the current fiscal year budget, the F.C. City Council at its work session mulled ways to best deploy the unexpected resource before the end of the current fiscal year on June 30.

Options were limited to one-time expenditures so that added costs are not carried forward, and candidates included more funds to the schools, diminishing bonding needs for the upgrade of the Child Development Center location (relieving pressure on taxpayers), enhancing parking capabilities and Tinner Hill Heritage programs, more storm water management and land banking. The Council is expected to make up its mind at its June 4 work session.
