F.C. Rotary Helps Fund Beech Tree Teaching Garden

The Rotary Club of Falls Church recently presented a generous check to Beech Tree Elementary School to fund the construction of a sensory garden to teach students about healthy eating, herbs and the five senses. The herb garden will be a new addition to the grounds following a multi-year renovation of the school building and facilities.

Prior to construction, Beech Tree had a thriving school garden program, resulting in the school being invited to attend the first White House Healthy Kids Fair in October 2009. The loss of the school gardens was a consequence of the renovation, but the reconstruction of the program is a priority to the Beech Tree PTA.
