F.C. Resident Recognized For Michigan Notable Book

Falls Church resident Sara Fitzgerald will be recognized by the Library of Michigan Saturday as part of its Night for Notables celebration. Fitzgerald’s recent biography, Elly Peterson: ‘Mother’ of the Moderates was chosen by the library as one of 20 Michigan Notable Books for 2012.

Peterson, who was the first woman to run for the U.S. Senate from Michigan and the first woman to chair a state Republican Party, went on in 1976 to serve as co-chair of ERAmerica, the coalition of organizations that worked for ratification of the Equal Rights Amendment.

Among the other authors who will be recognized are New York Times reporter Bill Vlasic, author of Once Upon a Car and Michael Moore, author of Here Comes Trouble: Stories from My Life.
