F.C. Employee Group Rallies Troops on Salary Plan

The Falls Church Employee Advisory Committee (EAC) has invited all City employees to assemble at the Cherry Hill Park on Monday, March 25 from 4 to 7 p.m. for “food, an ice cream desert (Lazy Sundae is going to drop by), and most of all, fun.” Chair Jason Widstrom notes in the invitation that following the meeting, the EAC “is asking employees to attend the City Council’s public meeting at 7:30 p.m.

That evening members of the EAC will speak about the proposed budget,” adding, “If you are concerned about the lack of a significant increase in compensation this year, this will be the meeting to attend and show your strong support.” He added, “All employees are encouraged to share their thoughts, concerns, and especially their story with City Council. But don’t feel obligated because your presence alone will go a long way.” The budget recommended by F.C. City Manager Wyatt Shields offers a 3 percent salary increase, but cancels last year’s one-time “bonus,” so that take home pay will remain flat for the fourth straight year.
