Lady Mustangs Crush Goochland, Head to Region Semis

George Mason High School’s girls basketball team beat Goochland High School 68-35 tonight in the quarterfinals of the Region B tournament.

George Mason jumped out to a 23-7 lead in the first quarter and never looked back. At halftime the score was 40-19 and George Mason extended that lead to 60-29 at the end of three periods. Senior forward Lauren Kane led the Lady Mustangs with 18 points against the Lady Bulldogs. Junior forward Stephanie Cheney scored 13 points and sophomore center Ashley Alexander added 10 points.

George Mason moves on to the semifinal round Friday, facing Central High School. The game starts at 7 p.m. at Strasburg High School.
