Trees in F.C. to Get Trimmed

The City of Falls Church will be performing routine tree trimming of streetscape trees along Broad Street from Lawton Street to Haycock Road 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays from February 21 through March 31.

According to Green Space manager David Jantzen, “trees will be pruned to promote healthy branch structure and maintain minimum clearances for vehicles, pedestrians, street signage and signals, and structures.” While clearance for business signs is not a criteria, business owners along the Broad Street commercial corridor may want to consider being on-site during the process.

A detailed schedule is not available but trimming will commence on the 100 block of Broad Street and continue west along the route. No more than 1/3 of each tree will be pruned. While some maintenance will take place as needed, the next scheduled trimming will be in three years.
