Mr. and Ms. Mason Crowned at George Mason

This year’s Mr. and Ms. Mason were crowned in a fundraiser pageant last Thursday at George Mason High School. Seniors Matt Abel and Claire Constance were bestowed with the honor in a mock talent show that pitted 18 students – a girl and a boy in grades 8 – 11 and five boys and five girls in grade 12 – against each other in the competition to wear the crown.

Among the components of the pageant was a talent competition. Constance delivered an elaborately choreographed dance routine to “It’s Raining Men” as her talent, and Abel spoofed Jonathan Swift’s “A Modest Proposal,” adding several jokes about Mason faculty and the school.

The annual event, a fundraiser for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, bested last year’s total and raised $840 for the organization.
