Falls Church-based Northrup Grumman Corporation is sponsoring the Smithsonian Museum National Air and Space Museum’s “Heritage Family Day” series celebrating ethnic and cultural diversity. This is the seventh year Northrop Grumman has sponsored the Smithsonian’s Heritage and History Initiative and it has pledged to support through 2012.
The series begins February 11 with “African American Pioneers in Aviation Day” at the National Mall building. Visitors can meet members of the Tuskegee Airmen, African-American pilots who flew during WWII and became an inspiration to the nation due to their determination and perseverance. On February 25, the second “African American Pioneers in Aviation Day” will be held at the museum’s Udvar-Hazy Center.
