Allan Named F.C. Public Works Chief

Kathy Allan has been appointed the Public Works Superintendent for the City of Falls Church. Allan has worked for the City for over five years as the Solid Waste Programs Coordinator. During her tenure, she assisted the City in holding the highest recycling rate in Virginia for the last three years; in 2011, that rate was the highest ever at 61 percent.

In 2010, Allan led efforts to transition all of the City’s residential curbside solid waste collection services to a private contractor. In doing so, the City has saved over $100K annually and provided a higher level of service to City residents by issuing carts for recycling and refuse. She was honored as the 2010 City Employee of the Year for her outstanding contributions.

Allan will assume her new duties on Jan. 17, 2012.
