Trinity Tempest X-Country Team Takes 2nd in State Championship

For the second year in a row, the Trinity Tempest varsity girls from Trinity School at Meadow View achieved first-runner-up status in the annual Virginia Independent School State Cross Country Championship held at Woodberry Forest in Orange on Nov. 11.

Trinity Tempest boys came in fourth place in the state championship, up from their 10th place finish last year.

Junior Mary Piescik led the Tempest girls with a time of 21.43 in the 5K contest, finishing 13th out of 193 runners from 23 teams around the state. Junior Kristi Niklason came in 17th with a time of 22:08. Senior Molly Earner came in 22nd at 22:23.

Junior Preston Bentley with a time of 18:42, led the Tempest boys finishing 20th out of 249 other runners representing 26 teams from around the state. Michael Runyon, a sophomore, finished 26th at 19:00, and junior Jonathan Slye came in 32nd with a time of 19:16.
