Final Selection of Bid for TJ Elementary Improvements Due by Nov. 8

Falls Church School Superintendent Dr. Toni Jones reported to the joint work session of the F.C. City Council and School Board tonight that the finalists are down to three — two superior ones — and that the decision is scheduled to be made at the Nov. 8 School Board meeting on the award of the contract for the construction of 15 new classrooms at the Thomas Jefferson Elementary School.

The “request for proposal” for the $5.95 million renovation and expansion requested a minimum of 12 new classrooms, but 15 has been offered for a cost of a flat $5 million, she reported. The construction would should begin by next March, she added, with a completion 13 months later, in time for the beginning of the Fall 2013 school year.
