Run for the Schools Nets $21,000

Mester-0898Last Sunday marked the Falls Church Education Foundation’s sixth annual Run for the Schools 5K Race and 1 Mile Family Fun Run/Walk.

Between corporate sponsorships and registration from this year’s about 400 runners, the event raised $21,000, about $4,000 more than last year. Alex Eversmeyer was the first-place finisher, repeating his win from last year. The first-place female finisher was Samia Akbar, who was also a member of this year’s winning team, Functional Fitness of Falls Church. (Photos: Gary Mester)
