F.C. Recycling Extravaganza Draws Big Response

Falls Church City Manager Wyatt Shields reported Monday that 550 vehicles brought 30,632 pounds, or 15.3 tons, of electronics and computer equipment for collection at the City of Falls Church’s fall Recycling Extravaganza last Saturday. The total thus kept out of the waste stream and land fills included 19,972 pounds of electronics, 136 TVs estimated at 6,120 pounds, 144 flat-screen computer monitors estimated at 5,040 pounds, and 11,160 pounds of bulky old-fashioned computer monitors.

Also, 4.6 tons of paper was shredded for free. The next Recycling Extravaganza will be held in April.
