F.C. Photographer Snaps Up $1 Million in Powerball

D. Douglas Donley of Falls Church waited more than five months to claim his Powerball prize. When he finally handed the ticket to Virginia Lottery officials, there were only about three weeks left before the ticket would have expired. The ticket was worth $1 million.

Donley matched the first five numbers in the March 19 Powerball drawing with a ticket he bought at the 7-Eleven at 5122 Wilson Blvd., Arlington. The winning numbers for that drawing were 3-11-20-27-46 and the Powerball was 8. Normally, matching all the numbers except the Powerball wins $200,000. However, he spent an extra dollar on Power Play, which multiplied the prize to $1 million.

Donley selected his numbers with the help of some friends’ addresses. For about four months, he was unaware that he had a million-dollar ticket in his possession. After he checked the numbers and discovered how valuable it was, he still waited a month or so to claim the prize.
