Best Bank: Burke & Herbert – 225 W. Broad St, Falls Church

With all the banking options in Falls Church (more banks, even, than coffee shops!), it’s a formidable achievement for the regionally-based Burke and Herbert Bank branch to win Best of Falls Church two straight years.
Explaining the success, sales and service representative Seble Endeshaw emphasized two things while talking with the News-Press. First is the bank’s No ATM Fee policy, which has proven wildly popular, and the second is personalized customer service.
The latter is the result, among other things, of the longevity of key employees, from the branch manager to the tellers, at the site. In larger bank branches, the turnover of staff is constant, but not at Burke and Herbert. The manager Marina Lubbers has a new last name due to marriage, but has been there for 10 years. Endeshaw has been there three and a half years, and managing assistant Pam Water and tellers Padmeija Parvatam, Walter Boyd and Candice Cole also all have extensive experience there, knowing most of their customers on a first-name basis.
Clearly, in these troubled economic times, having a friend at a bank can be a very reassuring feeling.
