Matthew Baker of Falls Church, a graduate of George Mason High School, has been selected to receive a college scholarship in the amount of $1,000 from Families for Russian and Ukrainian Adoption.

Baker came from Russia to live in the United States in 1993 at 6 months old.

Baker was a Virginia All-State trombone player in 2011, earned an Eagle Scout Award in 2009, and was an All-District Cross Country runner in 2008. Baker accomplished all of this while also working as a camp counselor, volunteering as a Sunday school teacher’s assistant, and serving in the Future Educators of America Club.
