City of Falls Church, VA Crime Report for July 26 – August 1, 2011
Larceny from Building, 507 Roosevelt Blvd. (Oakwood Apartments) On July 26, 2:20 p.m., an unknown suspect removed a container lock and stole seven rolls of copper tubing sometime from a construction shed after 5 p.m. on July 22.
Shoplifting, 167 Hillwood Ave. (Virginia ABC Store) On July 26, 3:55 p.m., an unknown suspect stole a bottle of Bicardi.
Larceny from Building, 115 E. Fairfax St. (The Falls Church) On July 26, 10:15 p.m., an unknown suspect(s) stole the victim’s unattended wallet from an unsecure room earlier in the day.
Underage Possession of Alcohol and Public Drunkenness, 500 block W. Westmoreland Rd. On July 26, 11:39 p.m., a 17 year-old male, of Falls Church, was arrested for Underage Possession of Alcohol and Public Drunkenness.
Larceny from Building, 400 W. Broad St. (Exxon Gas) On July 27, 8:47 a.m., approximately 15-20 milk crates were reported stolen from the location sometime after 8:00 p.m. on July 26.
Fraud, 300 Park Ave. (City Hall) On July 27, 2:18 p.m., the victim reported he received a fraudulent cashier’s check on July 5 when conducting a sale solicited on Craiglist.
Smoking In a Non-Designated Area, 6757 Wilson Blvd. (Eden Center) On July 27, 10:18 p.m., an officer observed an individual sitting in a hallway ledge next to a “No Smoking” sign. A male, 50, of Sterling, was arrested for Smoking In a Non-Designated Area.
Narcotics Violations and Trespassing, 422 S. Maple Ave. (Cavalier Trail Park) On July 28, 10:01 p.m. an officer observed three individuals in the park after dark. A male, 19, of the City of Falls Church; a male, of Washington, DC; and a male, 19, of the City of Falls Church, were arrested for Possession of Marijuana and Trespassing.
Driving Under the Influence, 800 block E. Broad St. On July 29, 2:03 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop for a motor vehicle violation. A male, 22, of Arlington was arrested for Driving Under the Influence.
Larceny from Building, 400 block W. Broad St. On July 29, 10:46 a.m., a bicycle was reported stolen from a communal bicycle storage room. The bicycle was last seen in the fall of 2010.
Larceny from Building, 201 N. Washington St. (Kaiser Permanente) On July 29, 12:59 p.m., the victim reported a watch, a diamond necklace, and a silver chain were stolen from an unsecure office sometime between 7:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on July 25.
Drinking In Public, 310 Park Ave. (Cherry Hill Park) On July 30, 7:20 p.m., a female, 48, of Reston, was arrested for Drinking In Public.
Drinking In Public, 100 block S. Washington St. On July 30, 9:32 p.m., a male, 44, no fixed address, was arrested for Drinking In Public.
Narcotics Violation and Driving Under the Influence, 7100 block Leesburg Pike On July 31, 2:27 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop for a motor vehicle violation. The driver, a male, 40, of Washington, DC, was arrested for Felony Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute and Driving Under the Influence.
Felony Violation of Protection Order, Public Drunkenness, and Panhandling, 900 block W. Broad St. On July 31, 8:57 p.m., officers responded to the area for a report of a violator of a protection order. Upon police arrival, the suspect appeared intoxicated and was begging on the streets. A male, 58, of Falls Church was arrested for Violation of Protection Order (3rd Offense), Public Drunkenness, and Panhandling.
Driving Under the Influence, Refusal to Submit to Blood or Breath Test, and Driving With a Suspended License, 800 blockE. Broad St. On Aug. 1, 1:58 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop for a motor vehicle violation. A male, 24, of Manassas Park, was arrested for Driving Under the Influence, Refusal to Submit to Blood or Breath Test, and Driving With a Suspended License.
Shoplifting, Providing False ID to Law Enforcement, 1150 W. Broad St. (CVS Pharmacy) On Aug. 1, 1:59 p.m., police responded to the location for a report of shoplifting which had just occurred. Officers identified the suspect and detained him for questioning. Many of the shoplifted items were recovered nearby. During questioning, the suspect provided a false name. Nathaniel Chapman, 41, of Washington, DC, was arrested for Petit Larceny, and Providing False ID to Law Enforcement.
Residential Burglary, 400 block S. Maple Ave. On Aug.1, 7:30 p.m., the victim reported unknown person(s) entered the apartment and ransacked the victim’s bedroom. A Playstation system, a laptop computer, and various jewelry items were stolen. There were no signs of forced entry.
