Local Businesses to Celebrate Bastille Day

Two local businesses will be celebrating Bastille Day, the French national celebration recognized on July 14.

Zpizza is celebrating the French national holiday, which commemorates the storming of the Bastille, with free samplings of their French-inspired pizza, the Provence, made with organic tomato sauce, homemade roasted garlic sauce, fresh mozzarella, capers, artichoke hearts, tomato and fresh basil.

Samples will be offered at Zpizza locations, including its 1051 West Broad St. location in Falls Church, on July 14 from 11 a.m. – noon and 4 – 5 p.m. For more information, visit Zpizza.com.

Bastille Day will again be celebrated at La Cote D’Or, with its annual waiter race. Waiters will race down the street at 2:45 p.m. for the chance to win a round-trip ticket to Paris for one as the first-place prize. Live music by such acts as Les Petits Plats De Raymond and Roosevelt Smith will be featured throughout the day, and in the evening festivities will be capped off by a fireworks show at 10 p.m.

The event is also the kick-off of a sale of raffle tickets to benefit the Falls Church Lions Club’s charities. The drawing will be on Dec. 24, and the grand prize is a round-trip ticket to Paris for two.
