Charges Upgraded to Involuntary Manslaughter in Columbia Pike Crash

A man involved in a crash on Sunday, June 5 shortly after 4:30 a.m., has died as a result of injuries he suffered in the crash, and now police are charging the suspect they believe caused the crash with involuntary manslaughter.

Ahmed Ehsan, 54, of 6000 Knollwood Drive #204 in Falls Church, was pronounced dead at Inova Fairfax Hospital just before 7:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 21.

Police say the crash occurred when a 44-year-old, Maryland man operating a 2000 Chrysler minivan, Jose Ernesto Tejada Hinojosa, was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of Columbia Pike. Ehsan was operating a 1997 Honda eastbound on Columbia Pike. The vehicles hit head-on at the intersection of Powell Lane. Ehsan was transported to Inova Fairfax Hospital. Hinojosa was not injured. He was charged with DWI, and as of Friday he is also being charged with involuntary manslaughter.

This case is still under investigation.
