VPIS to Sponsor Document Reading in Honor of July 4th

The Falls Church Village Preservation and Improvement Society will sponsor its annual event of readings of several important documents related to the founding of our country. The documents are: Fairfax Resolves, Virginia Declaration of Rights, Declaration of Independence, Bill of Rights and Pledge of Allegiance.

In this program, a local authority gives a short historical background and perspective on each document. After each document is introduced, audience participants take turns reading sections of the document until the whole document has been read aloud.

This year George Mason High School social studies teacher Eleanor Hawkesworth serve as the authority.

The event will take place on Monday, July 4, at 1 p.m. at the Falls Church City Council Chambers.
