Summer Concerts in the Park Series Returns June 23

Now in its 19th year, the annual Falls Church Concerts in the Park series will return to the City, bringing weekly concerts on Thursday at 7 p.m. from June 23 – Aug. 4. Music lovers can bring a blanket and a picnic and enjoy performances by local musicians. Each concert also features local artists and their artwork. All concerts are free to the public and are held at Cherry Hill Park, 312 Park Ave., Falls Church. In the event of rain, concerts will be held in the Falls Church Community Center located next to the park at 223 Little Falls St., Falls Church. For more information, call 703-248-5077.

The concerts are sponsored by the City of Falls Church Recreation & Parks Division and the Village Preservation and Improvement Society, with support from the Kokolopori Falls Church Sister City Partnership. Local artists are sponsored by Falls Church Arts.

The 2011 lineup is as follows: June 23, Falls Church Concert Band (concert music) and Chris Waters (wood tables); June 30, Tom Principato (blues and rock) and Paul Levy (typography); July 7, Andrew Acosta the New Old Time String Band (roots music) and Damian Hartl (photography); July 14, Bad Hair Day (classic and modern rock) and Neil Shawen (pen and ink drawings); July 21, Chronic Funk Disorder (funk, fusion, soul) and John Lanouette (sculpture); July 28, Mama Tried (bluegrass) and Chris Waters (wood tables); and Aug. 4, Big Tow (rock and alternative) and Fran Simms (paintings).
