The Falls Church Kiwanis Little League AA baseball playoff championship game between the Lugnuts and Scrappers was a two-day affair, starting Thursday and finishing up Friday due to a weather delay.

The game started off in triple digit temperatures which turn into hot batting by the Lugnuts. Both Jack Taylor and Mark Barakat scored in the top of the first inning to give the Lugnuts an early 2-0 lead.

Scrappers Evan Jones started off the bottom side of the inning with a single, followed by RBIs by Simon Lundquist, Nick Sharrer and Jack Coburn.

Lugnuts Jake Pigeon shut down the Scrappers in the second inning and Evan Jones and Simon Lundquist pitched very well for the Scrappers as well.

In the bottom of the 3rd inning, Connor Carlson started off a big inning for the Scrappers by scoring as did Prescott Starke, Simon Lundquist, and Nick Sharrer.

The Lugnuts Yana Rogers was up at the plate in the 4th inning when the storm rolled in and the game was postponed. When play resumed the next evening, both teams continued the impressive play.

The Scrappers pitcher Prescott Starke held the Lugnuts scoreless with help on defense by Hunter and Roman Pena, Owen Ossman, Jimmy Alverson and Jonathan Oppenheimer and added runs being led off by Ben Handly.

In a game that was much closer than the score, the Scrappers finished the year as regular season and playoff tournament champions.

Final Score: Scrapper 12, Lugnuts 3
