Former F.C. Economic Development Chief Dies

David L. Holmes, chief of economic development for the City of Falls Church in the late 1990s, died in his sleep at his home in Delray, Florida over the Memorial Day weekend, his daughter Jessica Holmes Evans reported to the News-Press yesterday. A memorial service will be held in New Haven, Ct., on June 25.

By coincidence, the News-Press in its editorial last week evoked the memory of Holmes’ impact on Falls Church, referring to him as, “The big man who turned the town on its head in a matter of months, jarring it free from years and years of inaction to begin a serious development process that continued long after his short tenure here.”
