F.C. School Board ‘Exceeded Goals,’ Chair Says

“I am proud to report that the School Board exceeded goals, and is significantly ahead of schedule, leaving the school district strong and well-prepared for the future,” Falls Church School Board Chair Joan Wodiska said in a statement released to the News-Press yesterday.

Wodiska will formally present her “State of the School Board” comments to the next business meeting of the board next Tuesday. She wrote that the School Board and community “can look back to 2010-2011 with a sense of achievement and commitment to the future of public education in the City of Falls Church,” with a 12-month progress update on the School Board’s 18-month work plan showing it ahead of schedule. She noted the board “took a bold first-step forward to create a revenue sharing agreement between the School Board and City Council to stabilize the schools’ funding for years to come.”

A joint F.C. City Council/School Board meeting is slated for tonight to begin discussing parameters of a revenue-sharing plan.
