Jody’s Jam of the Week: Allegheny Burger Festival

Warren, Pennsylvania. It’s only six hours away. Only.

Now, normally drive this long is a trek, but when a three-day festival celebrating the wonderful beefiness of burgers is on the other end of that journey, it’s little more than a hop, skip and a jump away. This Friday through Sunday marks the first-ever Allegheny Burger Festival. The smorgasbord of heaven will feature burgers of all shapes and sizes, and while I cringe at the inclusion of birds, fish and other non-four legged animals in burger talk, I’m willing to make an exception here just because of the sheer amount of beef that’ll be on hand. And while there’s a professional competition set up between the vendors, amateur burger flippers will also get a chance to compete in the festival’s Best of the Backyard Civilian Burger Grill-Off.
