Many people in Falls Church don’t know Leila Levesque, but as the Student Information Specialist for Falls Church City Public Schools, Levesque holds information about every FCCPS student and family at her fingertips, safe and secure.
Surprised with the news that she has been named the 2011 Falls Church City Public Schools Support Staff Employee of the Year, Levesque said she was honored to represent all support staff employees – especially those who work behind the scenes.
As the sole FCCPS Student Information Specialist Levesque manages all student data, including the InfoSnap student registration system, testing data and student growth statistics. She compiles detailed reports to comply with federal and state mandates. Though based in the Central Office, Levesque works closely with school administrators and registrars to keep the river of data flowing.
“Leila is the cornerstone of our student data collection program. Because of her stellar work FCCPS has a state-of-the-art system that accurately tracks student growth. We are fortunate to have her as an employee,” Superintendent Lois Berlin said.
Levesque was nominated by fellow Central Office employees and school-based staff. Her supervisor, Assistant Superintendent Gloria J. Guba, wrote, “What some might see as impossible, Leila accepts as challenges in search of solutions.” Barbara Cooper, Thomas Jefferson Principal’s Secretary, commented that “she helps me look at the big picture and not get caught up in the fixable mechanics of the data programs.” Others were appreciative of her “award-winning personality” and “positive attitude, calm and cheerful manner.”
Levesque is in her seventh year at FCCPS. Previously she taught elementary school in Fairfax County and was a school administrator.
As the 2011 FCCPS Support Staff Employee of the Year, Levesque will receive a cash award. She will be recognized, along with all award nominees, by the school board at a reception on May 16, 2011 at 4:00 p.m. at Mary Ellen Henderson Middle School.
