Young Essay Writers Recognized at F.C. Rotary Meeting

rotaryThe Falls Church Rotary Club recognized the winners of its essay competition at its March 31 meeting. Twenty-four local seventh- and eighth-grade students entered the club’s annual contest. Students from Trinity School at Meadow View and Cooper Middle School were honored at Harvest Moon Restaurant last Thursday evening for their essays with certificates and cash awards of $75, $50 and $25 for first, second and third place, respectively. Parents and rotary essay contest winners shown from left to right are Mr. and Mrs. Whelpley with son, Colin, third place; Mr. and Mrs. Bulford with daughter, Jessie, second place; and Mrs. and Mr. McDonough with son, Coley, first place. Jessie attends Cooper Middle School, while Coley and Colin attend Trinity School at Meadow View. Coley’s winning essay advanced to the District Competition level and earned the District’s second place award of $500, which was also presented to him as a surprise addition to his $75 award from the Falls Church Rotary Club.
