The ordinances referenced below will be given first reading on March 28, 2011; and rolling public hearings will continue on Monday, April 11 and April 25, 2011. Second reading and final Council action will take place on Monday, April 25, 2011 at 7:30 p.m., or as soon thereafter as may be heard.

(TO11-05) Ordinance Setting The Rate Of Tax Levy On Real Estate, Personal Property, Machinery And Tools, And All Other Property Segregated By Law For Local Taxation In The City Of Falls Church, Virginia, For The Tax Year 2011.

The City Of Falls Church, Virginia, Hereby Ordains That the levy of taxes upon real estate, tangible property, machinery and tools used in manufacturing and mining, and all other property segregated by law for local taxation necessary to be levied for the tax year 2011 to meet such lawful charges against the City of Falls Church, Virginia, including debt service, and the purposes of public education, shall be and the same is fixed at the rate of One Dollar and Twenty-eight Cents ($1.28) upon each One Hundred Dollars ($100.00) of assessed value of real estate in the City of Falls Church and at the rate of Four Dollars and Ninety-nine Cents ($4.99) upon each One Hundred Dollars ($100.00) of assessed value on (a) tangible personal property, and (b) machinery and tools, and (c) all other property segregated by law for local taxation within the City, including the property separately classified by Section 58.1-3500 et seq. of the Code of Virginia except such personal property as is exempted; and except that pursuant to Section 58.1-2606 of the Code of Virginia, a portion of assessed value of tangible personal property of public service corporations shall be taxed at the real estate rate.

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that on Monday, April 11, 2011 the City Council of the City of Falls Church, Virginia (the “City”) will hold a public hearing in accordance with Section 15.2-2606 of the Code of Virginia of 1950, as amended, on the issuance of a general obligation public improvement bond of the City in the estimated maximum amount of $6,400,000 to finance the cost, in whole or in part, of the following projects, including but not limited to: (i) upgrades and improvements to the Alexandria Sanitation Authority Wastewater Treatment Plant, Arlington County Wastewater Treatment Plant and Arlington County Wastewater Treatment Plant Gravity Filter, (ii) renewal and replacement of the City’s water main, and (iii) a property yard warehouse for the City’s Water system. The public hearing, which may be continued or adjourned, will be held at 7:30 o’clock p.m., or as soon thereafter as the matter may be heard, before the City Council.

All public hearings will be held in the Council Chambers, 300 Park Avenue, Falls Church, Virginia.
