Mason Track Opens Season Tonight

The George Mason High School boys and girls track team kicked off their season had their first meet of the tonight at Manassas Park High School.

“With over 100 athletes on the two team combined we have so many talented people – some are returning and some are new – yet they all are giving the team 100%,” head coach Kristin White said. “We expect everyone to step up and make a difference throughout the season.”

Both the boys and girls teams have the same season schedule.

“Both our girls and boys team are extremely dedicated, hardworking and motivated,” White said. “Our goal is to continue to work together to become the best team we can be.  Our District is talented and competitive and we expect to challenge them.”

The Mustangs have another away meet before they compete at Mason. They are traveling Potomac High School to compete in the Watkins I-95 Invitational.
“They are motivated and determined to be their best,” White said. “They push themselves and they push each other.  It’s been a great start so far and I’m excited to see what the season has in store for us!”

The Mustangs are looking to improve on their season last year.

“We were young last year and we had smaller numbers,” White said. “We had great success though as the girls placed 3rd in the state.  However, both teams –boys and girls — are back bigger and stronger.”

Mason’s first home meet is against Madison County High School on April 6 at 5 p.m.
