Based on high placement at the district level earlier this year, Tyler Waters, Matt Baker and Jay Rodock auditioned recently for State Band at James Madison University.
While all three finished the competition with high scores, Baker placed eighth out of 112 trombonists, landing him a spot in the highest band at the state level.
State Band will be held at Charlottesville High School April 7-9.
