Mason Wrestlers Return from States With 3 All-State Honors

Three Mustangs took all-state honors last weekend when the George Mason High School wrestling team traveled to the Salem Civic Center for the Group A Virginia State Wrestling tournament.

Mason senior Mike Larcamp finished fourth in the heavyweight weight class while juniors Danny Seidita and Alborz Alaeddini placed sixth at 119 lbs. and 135 lbs. respectively. Junior Ze’ev Lailari at 140 lbs. finished his season one match away from the medal round.

In the opening round of the tournament, Larcamp was forced to default his first match due to an injury he sustained in the second period but fought back through the consolation bracket to secure his medal by winning four straight matches.

Both Seidita and Alaeddini started off strong, winning their first two matches of the tourney to reach the semifinals of their weight classes.

In his semifinal match, Seidita dropped a 2-0 squeaker to Northampton’s Casey Paglia, the eventual 119 champion while Alaeddini lost 9-4 to Strasburg’s Daniel Reynolds, the eventual state runner-up at 135. After entering the consolation bracket both wrestlers had three more matches and finished the tournament in sixth place.

Larcamp finished the season with a 36-14 record and as the Bull Run District runner up, third in Region B, and fourth in the state.

Alaeddini ended the year fourth in the district, third in the Region and sixth in the state with a 22-11 record.

Seidita closed his year as both Bull Run District and Region B champion and sixth in the state. He ended the season with a 38-15 record.
