MEH TAAP Coordinator Teaches from Unrest in Egypt

Mary Ellen Henderson Middle School TAAP coordinator Pam Wilkie focused her students’ interest in and fascination of the protests in the streets of Cairo to launch deeper learning and discussions about the changes in Egyptian society.

Mary Ellen Henderson Middle School TAAP coordinator Pam Wilkie focused her students’ interest in and fascination of the protests in the streets of Cairo to launch deeper learning and discussions about the changes in Egyptian society. Wilkie utilized a lesson plan developed by Brown University’s Watson Institute for International Studies as the basis for her teaching.

Wilkie’s use of the Ivy League material in her middle school classroom caught the attention of Education Week magazine which is featuring it and other similar initiates grown out of the Egyptian uprising in this week’s edition.
