George Mason High School senior Alice Morrison-Moncure has been named a National Achievement Scholarship finalist, one of only 1,300 Black American high school students so honored out of the more than 160,000 who requested consideration.
Alice, who hopes to study French in college, was selected due to her high marks on the 2009 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test last fall.
Out of the finalist pool, 700 will be chosen for one-time National Achievement $2,500 scholarships. The final selection will be made this spring.
In 2007, Alice’s older sister, Irene, was selected for the very same award while a senior at George Mason.
